Yesterday i started a new fairy she will be around 8 inches tall when finished, I don't have any real designs for her so will just she how she turns out.

Woke up feeling quite energetic so cleaned the place from top to bottom but boy was it hot, hopefully it counted towards some weight loss !. It was so nice to sit down and do some sculpting in a squeaky clean environment as this is quite a rare occurrence! lol.

Gosh it is so warm today my clay is really sticky I have to keep putting it in the fridge lol. Still I have managed to make a start with three heads on the go to use up the eyes I made and have attached one to the armature.

Sculpting a new fairy today she would be 8 inches if standing, there's not too much to show at the moment but thought it would be helpful to show how I start off. This is my understructure which is fully fired so that i have a nice solid base to work on, this is good way to use up any dirty clay that can't be for the main sculpture.

What a beautiful day outside, the sun is shinning and I can't help but feel positive, so I have set myself a few goals for the future which helps me feel much stronger and to get on with the things that need doing lol. Today is the start of a much needed diet! (I need to lose at least two stones), I also need to concentrate on my sculpting, learn to drive, move to Kent and be financially self sufficient phew... lets hope i make it!.

I have mixed feelings this morning, looking out of the window I see its a typical summers day filled with dazzling sun rays and it makes me smile to myself at how lucky I am to experience it. Then there is a twist in my stomach followed by a great sadness as I remember today is the start of Glastonbury Festival and just one year ago I was travelling there with the love of my life for 5 days of pure joy, planning then to do it all again today...

Thank you again everyone for your messages of encouragement, so much seems to have happened since my last update and I have been on a rollercoaster of emotions. I have moved into a new home just a couple of miles away but I am thinking about moving permanently back to Kent as I have lots of family and friends there. My daughter is living with me and is now 23 wks pregnant with a little girl. I am so proud of her as if we haven't had enough on our plate she has been told at her last scan that the baby might have down's and has to undergo more tests. But as always in life you just have to get on with it and my daughter has decided that no matter what this little angel is going to be born and surrounded in bundles of love.xxx

As time goes on I feel a little stronger emotionally each day and am very grateful to all my friends and customers for being so understanding with me when I wasn't feeling so good.
I promised my Husband that I would carry on with sculpting so I started a new 8inch fairy and was surprised at how relaxed and channelled it made me feel, it was nice not to have any pressure to create something but to create for enjoyment.

So here we go some photos of her at the start, I tried making my own eyes and made them rather on the large side lol, but I think I quite like the look of them they completely change the face. She is now finished and I am off to take some photos and will put them up later.

My wonderful and very brave husband sadley lost his fight against cancer on friday 19th. I miss him so very much and will always love him but am happy that he is in no more pain. xxxxx

I wanted to wish all my friends a happy new year and to say thank you for all your email's of support.
A lot has happened since my last update, I am now Married (6th Nov) and my husband has just had his second course of chemo which has left him very weak but still in a fighting mode. He was allowed home for Xmas but had to go back in today as he was feeling unwell and running a high temperature but hopefully will be back here with me in a few days. I have just about managed to cope with my eBay shop and have added some new types of hair as well as some other ooak fairy / doll making supplies and I am hoping to get back to sculpting in the next few days all being well.

Thank you all again so much your messages really help me keep going :)

This is a quick announcement to explain my absence from all groups and forums that I am a member of as I thought it was easier to post here. My long term partner has been diagnosed with terminal cancer and we as a family are struggling to cope with the news. I am closing down my website in the next week or so and this blog will be the only place I will continue to up date. I will still create my dolls and run my eBay account as we need this more than ever now as an extra source of income but please bare with me if I take a little longer to answer email's.

Gosh I have had such a hectic week, I have not been able to do anything that i had had planned. This fairy is almost finished and just needs wings so hopefully will have updated pictures sometime this week.

No sculpting for me yesterday, we went to see the Just Jane Lancaster Bomber at a local air show it was pretty amazing and very noisy :). But I had a free day today so continued with the fairy, she has had one bake already and I am roughly shaping the feet. Arms are my pet hate, I find them incredibly difficult to get right and am very happy once they are out of the way! Lol.

12th Scale Fairy Part 1

Good morning :)
I would love to say its brilliant sunshine today, but it is not and no prizes for guessing its raining... Again lol.
Well today I am starting a fairy she will be kept to 12th scale but will be a full non pose-able sculpt I am getting used to this size so seems more natural for me. Firstly I make a wire armature to which I add clay forming an under body this is then baked. (pic1) Next I start to build up the body a little at the time, the baked clay is brushed with a thin layer of liquid fimo before raw clay is added on top, this helps it to adhere and stops air pockets forming which creates those dreaded moonies!!.

Here is a little update on my current face. I always sculpt the eyes shut first then open them up to form the lids, strange I know but it seems to work for me. :) Today I have completed sculpting the whole doll and she has now been baked, this is a commission piece so I will post more photos after the buyer has seen her or it might spoil the surprise lol. Next I am starting a full sculpt fairy but will try to stick to 12th scale if I can and will post wip here.

Today I started work on sculpting a new doll and tried to take enough photos to show the process of how I sculpt a face. I like to form a basic head shape and map out the features then smooth, add detail, smooth again, add more detail and so on until I get to a stage I am happy with.

The Petwood Miniature Fair

Today I went to my very first miniature fair (The Petwood Hotel) and was completely blown away by the treasures that awaited within. I met up with Edith and her husband from Delicious Delights such a lovely friendly couple who made me feel very welcome and at ease. My main reason for visiting was to get a hands on feel for 12th scale and make sure that my sizing was correct as I do not own any houses or miniatures to compare mine with, however I soon became mesmerized by all the tiny offerings on display and completely understood why this craft /hobby has such a passionate following.

In all I had a great day I made some new friends, treated myself to some goodies, got to see Ediths exquisite food in the flesh so to speak and now feel a little less nervous about maybe doing a fair in the future. Now for the rest of the evening I will be busy trying to find a space that would be perfect for accommodating a dolls house! LOL.

Wow! had such a great time at Glastonbury Music Festival, it was
worth all the backlog that i came home to. :)

Well back to some normality... if my life was ever normal to
begin with, I have just completed a Victorian 12th scale doll which is currently listed on Ebay
